If law enforcement wants to find out where you are right now, they may be able to triangulate your position, that is, they may get directional lines from three different cell towers and see where the lines intersect. That will tell where you, or at least your phone, is. But they can’t do that to determine where you were last Tuesday at 3:00 P.M. Despite that, even law enforcement often believes, or pretends to believe, otherwise. Don’t be misled by technological mumbo jumbo.
